Liz in a nutshell...
Growing up in a large family, I always drawn towards animals rather than my brothers and sisters. Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, turtles, birds, hamsters, stick insects; we had all sorts of animals when I was young, and I adored them all equally. I could express my feelings with them, and animals played a significant role in my childhood.
So, it came as no surprise when I decided to study Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University when I was 17 years old. After successfully completing high school, it was time to pursue my dream: helping animals! Unfortunately, the study didn't meet my expectations, and there was no room for independent thinking and out-of-the-box approaches, which are essential to me. After three years and a job at a nearby animal shelter, I decided to drop out of my studies because I had fallen in love with helping animals in shelters.
When there was no longer financial support to keep me employed at the shelter where I was working 60 hours a week at that moment, I got the idea of starting my own shelter and rescue center. I moved back to the Netherlands, and Animal's Faith was born! Out of Animal's Faith, my training center now located in Maastricht, The Animal's Faith Foundation was also established. It's a public benefit organization and shelter specializing in dogs with severe behavioral problems.
Since 2023, my colleague Anna has opened a franchise in Switzerland, and together we work towards a world without unnecessary animal suffering. Since 2021, I've been traveling in my camper across Europe to improve animal welfare in different countries and assist animal shelters with more challenging dogs. I do this with my own 4 dogs and often one or two dogs in training. My mission is to expand Animal's Faith globally and ensure that behavioral euthanasia is banned in every country. I aim to make assistance for behavior issues with pets easily accessible and to significantly expand knowledge about animals.
